A Different Kind of Quilt

So I'm doing it. I'm making a Beekeper's Quilt. It's made up of hundreds (and hundreds) of knitted, stuffed "hexipuffs". I don't know how long it's going to take me or how many hexipuffs I'm going to make, but I'm committed.

I forgot how much I like markers.

It's 60 x 24, pencil and ink. More on the way!

"Superwholock" Custom Quilt

A friend of mine commissioned an art quilt for her daughter who is really into the TV shows Supernatural, Sherlock, and Doctor Who (and also loves to drink tea). I'm pleased to report that she loved it and it was a marvelous surprise!

Nursing Whale-Monster Inspiration

The original woodblock print, and the sketch I'm working off of for my quilt. The text in the banner (taken from the book) reads, "I can resemble them to nothing else but a mightie lumpe of flesh without all fashion."

Going Big!

New year, bigger ambitions... literally. This whale-monster quilt is going to be taller than my work table, and almost as wide. For size comparison, Houseboats was exactly the size of the table top pictured (before the quilting process shrunk it down a little).

The paper template is going to be the size of the whale; it helps me work on the background knowing what's going to get covered up. One thing I'm looking forward to not covering up is the clouds and lightning.
