Yarn Bombing in Denver

On a recent trip, I saw these sweet crocheted flowers outside a construction site in Denver.

Around the corner, there was more.

Phat Quarter Spring Swap

I chose to embroider a bouquet of carnivorous plants for my partner and put them in a terrarium.

Spring for Lizzibabe

It's lost in the mail at the moment, but hopefully it will resurface soon.

How I Photograph my Quilts

It's a simple setup, but it works pretty well. Maybe I'll start hanging up white sheets to reflect the light better on larger pieces.

Another benefit is that it's pretty portable as long as I have something to clip the lamps onto.

Poetry is a Sword of Lightning

I covered the nice A. A. Milne poem on our dorm chalkboard with this quote back in 2009.

Chalkboard

I know P. B. stands for Percy Bysshe, but I like to imagine that it stands for Punkin' Bear, a childhood nickname a friend once (foolishly) revealed to me.

Silverware Study

This is a study for a much larger and more involved quilt that I have been sketching out for a while.

Silverware Study Interior

Instead of binding this little quilt normally, I "bag lined" it like I was making a pillow cover. Here's the inside corner.

Phat Quarter Swap-- Spring!

Just got this in the mail from Jessica Kelly. The Phat Quarter swap theme was Spring.

"Spring into Gear"

 I love it!

Midnight Sketch

Had a nightmare, woke up in the middle of the night, sketched in the dark. A good habit.

Midnight Sketch

The text reads:
Kelsey warned me
Black white & Red
dark & in the shadows
These would bump up against the back of your head and make you see in B & W
The head of the ailment

Little Black Dress Part 2

Put together a muslin mock up. Big Red is modeling today.

Muslin on Big Red

She's wearing a bra so I can know where the keyhole in the back should and should not go.

Little Black Dress: Part I

I found myself at a formal event in the long black gown from my high school Chamber Choir when everyone else was wearing classy Little Black Dresses. So here's the sketch for mine.

Maybe the keyhole cutout in the back will be round instead of a heart (too twee?).

Fuzzy Mirror D20 and D10

Fix enjoys role-playing games so I made him some special dice for the rear view mirror... a D20 and a D10.

To make these, I cut out stiff felt in one large piece like this one, painted the numbers with acrylic paint (copying the arrangement of numbers off real dice carefully), and stitched together the open ends. They've been a big hit.
