Dream: Dog with Human Hands

Dog with human hands.

At the end of a roller coaster (used in this case for transportation) my husband and I arrived at a French-speaking commune of some kind where we were looking at an apartment. The apartment's floor plan is also recorded in my journal, but it's not as much quilt material as the dog.

There were animals up for adoption in the lobby and a little girl showed me a puppy like the one I drew. He was a cutie, but he had little stubby baby hands covered in fur instead of front paws.

Jalapeno Mouthwash Quilt

Jalapeno Mouthwash

10.5 " x 15.5" Machine pieced and appliqued cotton, cotton batting. 2012.

From a dream, naturally. The whole story is here. Please notice the tree/leaf/city prints. I used those because it all happened in a treehouse.

The Back of the Quilt

Yesterday, someone asked a good question about my quilts: what do they look like on the back?

quilt from the back

After (usually) piecing together the background, I applique the foreground right onto it. The back, which is just batting at this point, gets pretty messy as you can see above. Right before I bind the quilt off, I put a piece of fabric on the back and sew a few lines to keep everything looking tidy.

Jalapeno Mouthwash Sketch

So weird it has to be from a dream. I had put the bottle of jalapeno mouthwash into the gift bag of a very quiet (and perhaps picky) acquaintance by accident. I only found out that the mistake had been made when he found me in my treehouse and told me how delighted he was.

Jalapeno Mouthwash

You can bet I'm already working on the quilt for this dream.

The Cat is Enthralled

Still trying to make a good looking blog header and put clock hands into a quilt, so no new content today. Instead, here's a picture of my cat.

Work in progress. I got myself some shiny stuff to sew onto quilts and I've been playing around with it.

"Make Art"

Also, a short manifesto.

What's Pinky so mad about?

21.5" x 12" Machine pieced and appliqued cotton, wire, string, cotton batting. 2012.

I know how I think this relationship is working, but I'm sure you have your own ideas. That's a good thing.

The First Page of the Sketchbook

I can't be the only person who's intimidated by the first blank page of a new sketchbook. I usually just start on the second page, but that's silly. It wastes a perfectly good page, it's cowardly, and besides:

Time to Make ART

It's time to make ART. There's a quilt coming out of this and it's gonna be a winner.

Project 333: New Wardrobe

The next cycle of my small wardrobe. It's an approximation, not the actual items.

Project 333 April-June 2012

This is what I'll be wearing from April 1 to June 30, minus pjs and workout clothes. The first 3-month cycle was easier than I expected. I switched out seasonal items and things that I didn't wear much.
