Cat Sitting

His name is Simba and he acts like he's the only cat in the house.

Simba close up

There is another cat in the house, as a matter of fact, but she likes to hide. We couldn't find the scaredy cat when we fed 'em yesterday but I've seen a cat climb into the springs underneath a chair, so I'm sure she's inside somewhere.

Elizabethan Woman Quilt 2

She looks less stoned now and more nonplussed.

What Did You Expect?

My favorite part is her hair, though the ruff and her facial expressions tie for a close second.

1910s Croquet Dress

1910s Croquet Dress (side)

I made this in 2006/7 from Folkwear's garden party dress for a spring Croquet match.

I decorated the hat with fake flowers and kept it on my head (it was windy!) with tulle. It looked classy, but it was itchy.

Uh Oh...

I've been changing some things around on my flickr account and I think it's messed up the photos up here. I'm working on it and hopefully things will soon be better than ever.

In the meantime, here's a detail from my newest quilt (still in progress). She's fantastic, but she looks a little stoned. Like I said, still in progress. The hair is my favorite part, though I'm also pretty pleased at how the ruff is turning out this time.

Renaissance Festival '05

I was an ambitious high-schooler.

Early Elizabethan Ensemble

I got a lot of attention, some good and some aggressive. A washerwoman gave me a stern lesson in curtsying because I curtsied to her, but I was wearing a fancy dress. A member of the court also informed me that I was wearing the wrong style of hat; the French hood had gone out of style several of Henry VII's wives ago. Well, excuse me for being 20 years too late, ma'am. That said, I had a great day with my friends and ate turkey legs and was asked several times by total strangers, "How do you go to the bathroom in that thing?"

The answer? "Very carefully."

The Nice Camera

I'd thought I was just a lousy photographer and that blaming my camera was unfair. Now that I had a chance to play around with a nice camera for a little while, my mind might have changed.

Action Shot

There are projects in progress and I'm doing a lot of work on my portfolio and resume right now, so there's not much new craftsy content these days. I remember something like this happening last December, too. Nevertheless, I'm around and I'll be updating as much as I can.

Isn't Buckaroo a handsome cat?

This is Why You Make a Mockup

The 1780 breeches are coming along slowly. The Reconstructing History pattern is hard to understand and there aren't enough illustrations. To make the first mock up of the pattern before I commit to cutting out my nice linen and sewing the entire thing by hand, I used the fabric left over from this dress because why not?

This is why you make a mock up...

The next mock up will fit better. I ran out of the flowery fabric, though, which is a pity.

I love Fix so much; he is the best sport.
