Brainstorming: Lunar Croquet

"What is this moon like? Is it a comfortable place for picnics & gardening parties or is it a rough frontier  for hardy adventurers. Is it still being explored? Should clothes be made to have the dust brushed off every night or are they made to spite the dust... and show everyone that you have enough servants to take care of your elaborate ruffles."

I'm imagining what these games of Lunar Croquet would be like before I start working on my Bitchin' Steampunk Dress and I keep coming back to the dust and colorlessness of the moon. Also, the difference between what textures and colors the moon reminds me of and what will look good photographed under convention center lighting. (Answer: mostly opposite things.)

In other news, I have a blister on the side of my middle finger from knitting. I can't tell whether I should feel like a craftin' badass or a total wimp.

"The Fun Squash"

"The Fun Squash"

Things are busy here-- the wedding is in a week and a half, Fix's little brother is sharing our one-bedroom apartment until then, and I'm preparing for an opera chorus audition. Not much time to cook... even less time to craft. Things are going to be a little slow on The Relaxolotl for a little while, but expect great things (train ride from Chicago to Albuquerque= craftin' tiiiiime) when I return.
See you soon and wish me luck!!!

Best Sign Ever

There should be more signs like this.

Special thanks to Fix who pulled over to let me take the picture.

Sampler Stitches

From top to bottom: wheatear, basket, feather, thorn. Another cloudy morning, but hopefully today won't be as raw as yesterday.

Wedding DIY

Bows after fixing
DIY wedding veil.
The wedding is at the beginning of April so everything is coming together nicely. Everything is also getting pretty busy, so I'll try to keep up with three posts a week, but I can't make any promises. My recent crafts have been wedding-related. I've made a veil and fixed the bows on my shoes.

I was putting some weird pressure on myself, like if it wasn't PERFECT I wouldn't be allowed to get married. Luckily this is not the case. This only happens if you don't have a photo of your dress backlit hanging somewhere. Without one of those I'm pretty sure you can't get a license.

Making the Laughing Moon corset for my Bitchin' Steampunk Outfit. It's time consuming, finger crunching work but I'm in it to win it. Or in it to... create something of quality craftsmanship and pleasing appearance. This fella helps:

It was a dollar at Busy Beaver Arts and Crafts down the street. Heaven bless Busy Beaver Arts and Crafts. They have everything you can imagine for crafts and some things you can't. The corset is coming along well, too!
