Bike Mitts in Progress

In Progress 2

I'm making these neat-o mitts for my "bridesdude," a dear friend who's standing up in my upcoming wedding. I think I will be able to finish them in time, but #1 needles are very very small...

Inspirational Sampler

Writers Write.

I'm making a sampler to learn all the neato stitches from "The Ultimate Visual Dictionary to Over 200 Classic Stitches" book from the library and to remind me that I'm not a bum, I'm a writer. I'm also making an effort to do all of the stitching neatly and correctly: I marked the middle lines! And started the text only one square off center from my meticulous middle lines!  Which is pretty good for me.

I will be following the instructions according to the instructions in the book...even if it drives me crazy.

Which it might.

Burning Wheel Drawings 3

It's been a heavy drawing-posts week. It's been a crazy week. One big relief has been the unseasonably fantastic weather. I love me some vitamin D and breezes from open windows!

Also on my to do list: read something by Kurt Vonnegut. He said some things that I like very much.

Dream: Plane Crash Without Injury

Hanging at the Back of the Plane

This dream ended with me watching helplessly as Dickensian urchins, angry cats, and thousands of rats streamed out of tunnels from underneath a cathedral singing a hymn about how nothing good exists in all of creation. Yeah, the cats were singing too because they were angry.

I spent a couple hours this morning writing everything down, but I'm still not sure what the bra was doing in the plane...

Feeling Stitchy

February Stitchalong 2

A heart for Valentine's Day. Also, a heart for keeping us from dying by pumping blood through our bodies (very important).

The whole piece.

"Bee Mine, Honey."

"Bee mine...honey."

Valentine's Day is coming up, so I figured I would make something for Fix. I'm getting into this stitching on paper thing... what do you think?

Am I Feeling Stitchy Today?

Stitchalong in Progress

Today I started the Feeling Stitchy's February vintage pattern stitchalong. I'm a firm believer that the quality of what you make (with your hands, your voice, your words) is a big indicator of what's going on in your head. Today is kind of a messy day. Luckily, I make up for the mess with awesome. Even if I'm not proud of what I've got right now, I'm confident that I will make this into something beautiful.

Burning Wheel Drawings 2

"Donwyc Angharad"

Look at this guy! Check out his sword-- it's glowing! And that butt! And that expression! And that HAIR! Looks like someone who'd get owned in a duel...and you'd be right. Didn't even get a chance to cheat like he planned when blammo: straight to the pretty face and fight over.

This drawing makes me smile every time I see it. Hope brings you a smile, too.

Sweater Dilemma

The ice is melting, the roads are clear again, and I've finally finished the body of the sweater that's been siting around since this summer.

Sweater, Minus Sleeves

The sleeves are next, and I'm not sure how to proceed. The real solution is that I shouldn't have been so impatient six months ago to get to the arm holes and have made the shoulders much, much wider, but that's not very helpful now.

Maybe We Will Never Go Outside Again

If you're getting this midwest weather, I hope you're doing okay.

Little Heart two

We're doing just fine staying inside. As soon as the ice stopped last night, the power went out. When the power came back on (just a couple hours later, thank goodness!) the howling wind started. Now that the howling wind died down this morning, it's been snowing all day. At least we've got power and plenty of leftovers.
